The late Dr. Sukarno was Indonesia's first President since the founding of the Republic in
1945. Being a connoiseur of fine art and a real painter himself, he had contributed
immensely to the development and appreciation of art in his beloved country, in particular
through the collection and publication of paintings.
The first publication which was made in mid-fifty came in 4 volumes. A
decade later, it was further refined and edited into five volumes containing a total of
568 paintings and statues (including some porcelain).
Though widely recognized and viewed by many in Indonesia, we hope the
presentation through the internet media would make it possible for this great collection
to be appreciated by a much wider audience.
Our initial presentation is confined to Volume I, but futher volumes will
be added in the near future.
